Origin/meaning
The badge show the Personal Arms of Willebrord Snellius (1580-1626), Professor of Mathematics at the University of Leiden. His work was of great importance to Hydrographic Cartography. He also laid the foundations for a Method to measure Angles by means of Trigonometry. The badge was approved 8 February 1952.
