Origin/meaning
The badge is based on the arms of Johan van Galen (1604-1653), Rear-Admiral of of the Amsterdam Admirality. He had a succesful Career until killed in Action on 23 March 1653 during the First Anglo-Dutch War. The badge was approved on 16 July 1952.
