History: The Name was used by a Frigate in service 1967-1988, and later by a Frigate in service 1994-2007 (sold to Portugal as Bartolomeu Dias).

Origin/meaning

The badge is based on the arms of Aert van Nes (1620-1693), Admiral of the maas Admirality, who served with distinction in the Wars between 1652 to 1674. The badge was approved on 11 June 1963
