Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 12, 1959.

The Wied coat of arms (bends and peacock) refers to the former affiliation of the area with the upper county of Wied; Puderbach was the seat of the Hohe Veste (a regional court) in the northern part of the county.

The three diamonds, taken from the arms of the Walpoden von der Neuerburg family, who built the Reichenstein Castle in the parish of Puderbach before 1329 and then called themselves Lords of Reichenstein

The linden tree symbolizes the court linden tree of the Hohe Veste, attested to in its wisdom from 1553.
